Since 2003 the Australian Tyre Recyclers Association (ATRA) has been committed to making sure used tyres are recycled in Australia, in order to minimize damage to human health, and the environment.
In 2014/15 ATRA members processed around 18.5M EPU’s (Equivalent Passenger Units) representing 95% of Australia’s used tyre recycling activity and 87% of the available market.
Used tyre products include alternate fuels, adhesives, rubber mating for sport, play and domestic surfaces and civil construction.
ATRA is a member driven association, open to all stakeholders, that adhere to ATRA principles and involved in the processing of waste tyres, including retailers, collectors, recyclers, and tyre manufacturers.
ATRA members are independently audited (audit firm www.eqlomg.com undertakes data collection, satellite monitoring and site visits on behalf of the ATRA Committee) to legal, safety and ethical standards.
This audit process provides assurance to the public and our retail partners that their used tyres are being responsibly recycled.
